Kindergarten Classroom Management System
In Kindergarten we use the clip chart system. Each day the students come in, they all start in the middle (ready to learn). With good behavior they can move up and with excellent behavior they are moving their clip two to three spots to be at the top. Students that are at the very top receive positive recognition (this is sometime of reward). Not only can students move up, but with bad behavior, they can also move down. The first time the child is given a verbal warning. If they continue the behavior we ask them to move the clip down, this is where the child thinks about their behavior. The next time this behavior continues they move down again and the teacher will have the student practice the behavior correctly one on one. For example, if the child is having difficulty blurting out, the teacher will ask a question and the student will then practice raising their hand and waiting to be called on to answer. If the behavior is still an issue, they will move their clip down for the third time and this is where some form of parental contact will be made. If behavior is continuing past the parent contact, the child is then sent up to the office and their clip is removed from the chart.
